KIWANIS 18TH ANNUAL BARBECUE FEST
It's back! Like clockwork the weekend after Mother's Day, the Rib Burnoff and Barbecue Fest returns with finger-licking goodness!
The participation is from professionals, restaurants, and amateurs alike and there are professional certified judges who will direct the blind judging to pick the award winners - ticket holders too get the chanve to vote for their favoriates.
Usual entrants include One Hot Mama's, the Smokehouse, Bomboras Grill, Sea Eagle Market, ourmet Warehouse/Piggly Wiggly - no doubt replaced by Bi-Lo this year since they bought out "the Pig", Bullies BBQ, and many more!
There'll all be music and a supervised childrens' play area with water slide and plenty of grass to run around in.
The Kiwanis donate proceeds from the event to local charities throughout the year including The Children's Center, Boys and Girls Club, Coastal Discovery Museum, Week of Champions, Kids Triathalon, HH Swim Team, Boy Scouts, JROTC of HH/Bluffton, The Sandbox, Interactive Children's Museum, Programs for Exceptional People, Deep Well, Toys 4 Tots, Operation R&R, Room at the Inn, and the Marine Corps Scholarship Fund of Hilton Head ,
P..S. There's also beer wine (with proper ID please), soda, hot dogs and ice cream - if you're not totally filled up with the ribs!
Bring Your own water!: It'll most likely be a toasty day - they have water but always good to be prepared.
Throw some things in a backpack: You can easily enter and exit the Honey Horn grounds with your backpack. Plus there are a ton of people mingling around and a backpack always ends up being easier than a purse. You might want to take a few minutes to relax on the grass to in addition to water in the backpack you might throw in a blanket.. You can always use wipes for your fingers too!
Come Early! The best ribs always go first - my favorites are always from Orchid Paulmeier of One Hot Mama's - her famous Asian Sauce makes terrific ribs.
Bring Cash: Your entry ticket will get you all the ribs you want but other food and drink items are extra - always handy to have cash.
