Bluffton's Winter Party
If you enjoy standing up and eating succulent steamed oysters that just came out of the May River, this event is definitely for you! The Bluffton Rotary's biggest fundraiser comes around this time every year and it really is not to be missed. With a roaring bonfire to warm you, the great sounds of local band "Lowcountry Boil," there's fun for everyone.
If you're not exactly a fan of these tasty, sweet, nutritious, low caloric treats :-) then you can certainly enjoy the brats, hot dogs, chilli, and the famous Rotary french fries! There is also beer, wine, and soda available. This fun event is also 'ALL YOU CARE TO EAT' and for those of us who could literally eat a bushel of these bivalves, it really is a terrific opportunity to indulge.
HOW TO ENJOY THE ROAST
Bring a chair. There's a roaring bonfire and of course some logs to sit on, but regulars know to bring something to sit on and even a blanket against what can be a chilly wind off the May River.
Bring your own oyster knife. If you really want to look like a local, feel free to bring your own-they always have them but it's nice since you know where's yours came from. Also, these are very crusty creatures, expert shuckers always have a glove for the hand they use to hold the oysters while they maneuver the oyster knife in their other hand.
Bring your ID if you plan to drink anything stronger than water or soda. Try to make the servers' job easier and go way more smoothly.
